# Girls Should Be From 5-7, Gates From 7: What 364,000 DOJ Documents Reveal About Silicon Valley and Jeffrey Epstein

On February 25, 2014, a literary agent named John Brockman sent an email to twenty-five people. The subject line read: "Confidential — Invitation — Edge Dinner."

The guest list:

Paul Allen. Jeff Bezos. Sergey Brin. Bill Gates. Elon Musk. Larry Page. Nathan Myhrvold. Pierre Omidyar. Evan Williams. Anne Wojcicki. Marissa Mayer. Charles Simonyi. Jeff Skoll. Tim O'Reilly. Jean Pigozzi. Nick Pritzker.

And Jeffrey Epstein.

Brockman's instructions: *"For this dinner, less is more, so please keep this invitation, which is for you only, under the radar."*

Epstein RSVP'd yes. He was confirmed to attend (**EFTA01933064**). A registered sex offender, six years post-conviction, seated among the most powerful technology leaders on Earth.

We found the emails. All of them.

The Archive

DugganUSA has indexed **364,000+ DOJ Epstein documents** across all 12 EFTA datasets. When we searched for Silicon Valley, we didn't find a connection. We found an **infrastructure**.

Forty-nine investigation threads. Ninety-one smoking gun documents. Over a thousand hits each for Bill Gates, Elon Musk, Reid Hoffman, Peter Thiel, and Joi Ito. The story isn't that Epstein knew these people. The story is what happened when they were together.

"Girls Should Be From 5-7, Gates From 7"

**EFTA02414311** — November 28, 2010

Jeffrey Epstein to his assistant Lesley Groff, scheduling a dinner at his Manhattan townhouse:

> *6th now.. girls should be form 5-7 gates from 7*

Read it again.

"Girls" from 5 to 7 PM. Bill Gates arriving at 7 PM. At the registered sex offender's house. The staff CC list includes Lynn Fontanilla, Jojo Fontanilla, and Rich Barnett — the domestic operation that kept the townhouse running.

This was not a one-time dinner. Three days later (**EFTA02320685**):

> *Bill Gates and Boris Nikolic is coming for dinner at 71st this Monday and Tuesday night.. both nights!*

Gates came to Epstein's 71st Street Manhattan townhouse for dinner **two consecutive nights**. Epstein asked staff to take off work to serve. A whiteboard was set up in the dining room (**EFTA02319573**) — these were working sessions, not casual socializing.

By January 2011, Peter Mandelson — a British Lord — was joining them (**EFTA02320660**). By April, Larry Summers — former Treasury Secretary, former Harvard President — was a regular (**EFTA01867159**). By September 2014, Gates was emailing Epstein his full weekly schedule:

**EFTA02386397** — Bill Gates to Jeffrey Epstein:

> *Next week I start Monday in Washington DC mostly seeing Executive branch people including the President on the budget and Ebola. I spend Tuesday in New York... I can easily talk about the DAF approach at the dinner. Ray Dalio and Paul Tudor Jones and others will be at both events.*

The richest man in the world, sending his presidential meeting schedule to a registered sex offender, agreeing to pitch Epstein's financial strategy to Ray Dalio. Nine years after Epstein's 2008 conviction. Six years after the world learned about the sweetheart plea deal.

"The Girls and I Are Going to See Elon Musk at SpaceX"

**EFTA01902806** — February 25, 2013

Jeffrey Epstein to Bobby Kotick, CEO of Activision Blizzard:

> *the girls and i are going to see elon musk at space x tomorrow, are you around*

Same email chain:

> *not going to a dinner, just holding court in the westin in bill gates suite, come later if you like*

And:

> *Taking girls after to bel air*

Three data points in one email thread. Epstein is (1) "holding court" in Bill Gates's hotel suite, (2) bringing "the girls" to visit Elon Musk at SpaceX headquarters, and (3) "taking girls" to Bel Air afterward. A CEO of a publicly traded company received this email from a registered sex offender and no one flagged it.

The SpaceX connection went deeper. In November 2009 (**EFTA01300329**), Epstein organized a physics summit **at SpaceX headquarters** — "The Physics of the Universe." The invitation promised Elon Musk giving tours of the Falcon and Dragon spacecraft, with "a Tesla surprise built into the tour." The invited guest list included Stephen Hawking, Edward Witten, Lisa Randall, and Frank Wilczek. Epstein funded it: *"I put a bunch of money from my academic setup to this."*

The direct emails between Musk and Epstein tell the rest.

**EFTA02341154** — October 2012:

> **Epstein:** *sorry to hear that you need to revamp your priorities... come to island in nov? you won't suffer*

>

> **Musk:** *Late Nov is a possibility. Between now and then, I have to complete the Dragon mission, get Tesla to cash flow positive (at long last) and help execute the SolarCity IPO. Could definitely use a break after that.*

**EFTA02379536** — March 2013:

> **Musk:** *It is 3am in California and I'm still working on Tesla and SpaceX email. Will hit the sack shortly, but be up at 7 for a call.*

>

> **Epstein:** *will you take a break? april?*

Familiar enough to email at 3 AM. Open enough to discuss island visits. And somewhere in there, "the girls" went to SpaceX.

The Facebook File

Epstein didn't just want to know Mark Zuckerberg. He wanted access to his office.

**EFTA02492467** — August 5, 2015:

> *I asked Saida for the name associated with the email address she provided yesterday for Mark Zuckerberg's office... it is Andrea [email protected]*

Epstein's staff, systematically obtaining the contact information for Zuckerberg's personal assistant at Facebook. Through a chain of intermediaries. Seven years after his sex offense conviction.

On the same day Epstein was hunting Zuckerberg's office contact, he was also arranging a dinner:

**EFTA02491174** — Epstein to Peter Thiel:

> *at dinner i started a conversation with mark, poverty africa, connectivity. I have to go to seattle one day next week, could you i and mark have a dinner or lunch in palo alto*

"Poverty, Africa, connectivity" — Mark Zuckerberg's internet.org talking points. A registered sex offender arranging a three-way dinner with Facebook's founder and Palantir's founder.

And Kathy Ruemmler — Epstein's lawyer, former Obama White House Counsel — would later become Meta's General Counsel. Epstein had prepped her for a Zuckerberg meeting (**EFTA02549970**): *"mark wants to bring the Internet to the rest of the world. and healthcare. his wife is nice but boring."*

The Gatekeeper

None of this happened by accident. It happened because of one man.

**John Brockman** ran the Edge Foundation — a self-described intellectual salon that organized annual gatherings of the world's most powerful technologists and scientists. He curated the guest lists. He sent the invitations. And he put Jeffrey Epstein on every one of them.

The Edge Billionaires' Dinner. The Edge Master Class. The Edge Annual Question. Year after year, Epstein appeared as a peer alongside Bezos, Brin, Page, Gates, Musk, Zuckerberg, Schmidt, Parker, Omidyar, and Williams.

But Brockman did something else. He managed the risk.

**EFTA02496272** — June 27, 2015, Brockman to Epstein:

> *The only reporters are Markoff and Andrian Kreye... both friends who should be able to cover the event without mentioning you.*

>

> *I could see the founders of the big companies unhappy if they got the Prince Andrew treatment by the press in terms of photos and reportage.*

Read that twice. "Reporters are friends who can cover the event without mentioning you." The gatekeeper wasn't just letting Epstein into the room with billionaires — he was ensuring no one would report that a sex offender was in the room with billionaires. He specifically references "the Prince Andrew treatment" — proof that everyone involved understood the reputational risk and chose to manage it rather than exclude the sex offender.

The Inner Circle

Not everyone on the Edge invitation list had a deep relationship with Epstein. But some did. The documents reveal four tiers of Silicon Valley access:

**Tier 1 — Direct, Frequent, Personal:**

- **Reid Hoffman** (LinkedIn) — 1,000+ documents. Island visits. Endorsed Epstein on LinkedIn. Bitcoin discussions. Told Epstein about his support for OpenAI (**EFTA02365425**). Still scheduling calls with Epstein in March 2018: *"Seeing Bill for two days next week... just after my next catch up with Joi."*

- **Peter Thiel** (PayPal/Palantir) — 1,000+ documents. Island invitation. Bitcoin analysis. Epstein buying Palantir shares on the secondary market — Thiel advising: *"$5.50/share? That's somewhat below market"* (**EFTA02447787**). Quantum computing researchers at Epstein's ranch. Frequent dinners with Larry Summers.

- **Joi Ito** (MIT Media Lab) — 1,000+ documents. Facilitated anonymous Epstein donations to MIT (**EFTA02346382**): *"Is anonymous from your foundation ok?"* Tried to recruit Reid Hoffman to "go meet Putin" with Epstein (**EFTA01914954**). Island visits. Brokered MIT-Harvard-Tsinghua collaboration through Epstein.

- **Boris Nikolic** (Bill Gates's science advisor) — 1,000+ documents. Named successor executor in Epstein's will. Virtual currency discussions referencing Jack Dorsey. Bio approved by "Bill and Julie" sent to Epstein. The bridge between Epstein and the Gates empire.

**Tier 2 — Direct but Less Frequent:**

- **Sean Parker** (Napster/Facebook) — Personal dinner invitations and cancellations. Epstein's assessment: *"very smart druggy"* (**EFTA02484035**).

- **Bobby Kotick** (Activision) — Received the "girls and I going to SpaceX" email. Direct social circle.

**Tier 3 — Event-Based / Group Access:**

- **Jeff Bezos** — Edge dinner invitations. At Ghislaine Maxwell's townhouse with Bill Clinton in January 2009 (**EFTA02438537**).

- **Sergey Brin** — Added to guest lists by Maxwell in 2003. Edge invitations. Lisa Randall group email with Epstein and Musk.

- **Larry Page** — Edge invitations. Same group emails as Epstein.

- **Eric Schmidt** — Maxwell identified him as "big supporter of ours" on the 2003 guest list.

The AI Empire

Epstein didn't just attend dinners with tech billionaires. He funded the artificial intelligence research they all depend on.

**EFTA01920270** — a complete draft of **jeffreyepstein.net**, an AI-focused website for Epstein's VI Foundation. The site documents systematic funding of:

- **Marvin Minsky** — father of artificial intelligence, MIT AI Lab

- **Seth Lloyd** — quantum computing, MIT

- **Ben Goertzel** — OpenCog Foundation, AGI research, Hong Kong

- **David Hanson** — Hanson Robotics (humanoid robots)

- **Joscha Bach** — cognitive science, MicroPsi, Berlin → MIT

- **Humanity+** — transhumanist organization

This wasn't casual philanthropy. Epstein was commissioning research agendas.

**EFTA02374114** — Ben Goertzel to Epstein, January 2014:

> *I tried to put together a "grand AGI proposal" for you when you requested it late last year.*

>

> *I wonder if you'd be willing to sponsor a research fellowship for me at HK Poly U, similar to what you've done for Joscha at MIT.*

Epstein funded Goertzel at the University of New Mexico in 2001-2002, then funded Joscha Bach's fellowship at MIT. We found the wire transfer: **EFTA01299662** — $115,000 to Joscha Bach at MIT Federal Credit Union, January 29, 2018. And when Google acquired DeepMind for $400 million, Goertzel briefed Epstein immediately (**EFTA02381497**): *"Google is going to win the race to AGI."*

Epstein knew. The man categorized his scientists by discipline in a single email to Boris Nikolic (**EFTA01834443**):

> *george church, genetics. novak, game theory, minsky artfic intelligence. axel always available. charlie rose. peter. woody alien, barnaby marsh... girls that is.*

Church for genetics. Nowak for game theory. Minsky for artificial intelligence. And then, casually, at the end of the same roster: *"girls that is."*

The Question

Ghislaine Maxwell added Google's founders to guest lists in 2003. Epstein organized a physics summit at SpaceX in 2009. He scheduled "girls" before Gates's dinners in 2010. He invited Musk to his island in 2012. He brought "the girls" to SpaceX in 2013. He sat among every tech billionaire on Earth at the Edge dinner in 2014. He obtained Zuckerberg's assistant's contact information in 2015. He was buying Palantir shares with Thiel's advice in 2016. He was still wiring $115,000 to AI researchers at MIT in 2018.

And John Brockman made sure reporters could "cover the event without mentioning" him.

Every one of these people had publicists, lawyers, compliance teams, and security details. Every one of them knew — or should have known — that Jeffrey Epstein was a registered sex offender. And every one of them either continued the relationship or had gatekeepers who managed the optics so they could.

The question isn't whether Silicon Valley knew Jeffrey Epstein.

The question is who in Silicon Valley didn't.
