# Howard Lutnick Epstein Island: What the Documents Actually Show

Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick testified before the Senate on February 10, 2026 that he visited Jeffrey Epstein's island in 2012. ABC, CNBC, NPR, CNN, NBC, the Washington Post, and Democracy Now all covered his admission. Senator Rosen called for his resignation.

Here's what the documents show that the coverage missed.

The $50,000 Connection

**EFTA02229752** — Epstein's assistant arranges a $50,000 donation from **Gratitude America, Ltd** — Epstein's USVI non-profit at 6100 Red Hook Quarter, St. Thomas — to the **UJA Wall Street Dinner honoring Howard Lutnick** on December 11, 2017.

The email chain is explicit. Epstein tells them to give the table to Lutnick because "he will not use the table himself." A convicted sex offender's charity funded a gala honoring the man who is now the United States Commerce Secretary.

Gratitude America: The Money Trail

Gratitude America received **$10 million from Leon Black's foundation** in 2015. Leon Black, chairman of Apollo Global Management. The same Gratitude America that donated to Lutnick's dinner.

The charity was registered at **6100 Red Hook Quarter, B3, St. Thomas, USVI 00802** — the same address as nine Epstein shell entities holding $62.2 million at Deutsche Bank.

On March 3, 2016, Paul Morris — Epstein's Deutsche Bank relationship banker — emailed: "Hi looks like $5 mn went out yesterday, can you see where?" The banker managing the account lost track of five million dollars.

A Wall Street Journal reporter noted in September 2019 that "some of Gratitude's donations between 2016 and 2017, listed in its tax forms, were never received."

Darren Indyke closed the Gratitude America account on January 10, 2019 — six months before Epstein's arrest.

Lutnick in the Files

Lutnick's name appears in more than 250 documents in the Epstein files. The records show his business and personal relationship with Epstein was more extensive than previously disclosed — including arranging for his nanny to meet with Epstein and having her resume sent to him in 2013.

Lutnick previously claimed he cut off contact with Epstein after 2005. The documents show communication continued years later.
