A Note From the Founder

This is the year I started DugganUSA.

Not with venture capital. Not with a team of 50. With my wife Heidi, our kids, a laptop, and the stubborn belief that security doesn't have to cost a fortune or compromise on ethics.

As I write this on Christmas Eve 2025, I'm reflecting on what we've built:

• 251,652 IOCs indexed and searchable

• 25,432 abuse reports submitted to AbuseIPDB

• 1,905 blocked IPs actively protecting infrastructure

• 103 organizations in 27 countries consuming our STIX feed

• A community that actually shows up

All on $75/month.

The Support That Made It Possible

To Heidi: Thank you for believing in this when it was just an idea. For the late nights you tolerated, the "one more thing" that turned into three more hours, the patience when I said "I think I found something" for the hundredth time.

To the kids: You probably don't fully understand what Dad's doing on the computer at weird hours. Someday you will. I hope you'll be proud that we tried to make the internet a little safer.

To the community - the Reddit contributors, the STIX feed consumers, the people who email saying "hey, this IP is actually legitimate" or "hey, you missed this one" - you're not just users. You're collaborators. This doesn't work without you.

Special recognition to the one contributor who cleaned up a massive amount of threat data with us. You know who you are. The Daytona Beach STIX puller. Real one.

What 2025 Taught Me

1. Small can win.

Every enterprise vendor told me you need millions to compete in threat intelligence. They were wrong. You need good data, ethical practices, and people who give a damn.

2. Community beats budget.

One person who actually reads the data and says "this is wrong" is worth more than a hundred passive consumers. Quality feedback loops create quality data.

3. The weird stuff matters.

This year we published analysis on interstellar objects, paranormal data correlations, and a satirical management report about alien HR problems. Not everything has to be serious to be valuable. Sometimes the weird stuff is what people remember.

4. Ethics aren't optional.

When we weren't sure if our data was derivative or original observation, we paused to verify. When contributors helped us, we gave credit. When we made mistakes, we published corrections. The trust that builds is worth more than any shortcut.

5. Family makes it real.

I could do this work alone. But knowing Heidi and the kids are behind me transforms it from a project into a purpose. This isn't just a company. It's our shot at building something that matters.

Looking Forward to 2026

Next year is going to be interesting. One way or another.

• More IOCs to index (the bad actors aren't taking holidays)

• More community to build (if you're reading this, you're part of it)

• More weird analysis to publish (March 2026 is going to be *notable*)

• More ethics to uphold (the easy path is rarely the right one)

And we've got each other. The scrappy network of people who decided that $75/month and good intentions could compete with the big players.

So far, we're not wrong.

To Everyone Reading This

Whether you're a STIX feed consumer, a blog reader, a Reddit contributor, a fellow security practitioner, or someone who just stumbled onto this post - thank you.

Thank you for being part of whatever this is becoming.

Merry Christmas. Happy holidays. Whatever you celebrate, I hope you're surrounded by people who support your weird ideas and believe in your shot.

See you in 2026.

*P.S. - If you're consuming the STIX feed on Christmas Eve, you're my kind of people. The data's fresh. The IOCs are real. And somewhere out there, an interstellar visitor is slowly rotating toward Jupiter, probably dealing with the same workplace dysfunction we all deal with.*
