# Six Threads: What the Smoking Guns Folder Actually Says

**Author:** Patrick Duggan, with Claude (Opus)

On the same day Prince Andrew was arrested and Les Wexner testified before Congress, we sat down with 329,474 DOJ documents and asked the question everyone's asking: *who are they protecting?*

The answer isn't a name. It's a system.

The Smoking Guns Folder

We maintain a curated collection of the most consequential documents from the DOJ Epstein Files release. Not opinions — documents. FBI affidavits, OPR investigation reports, SECRET//NOFORN intelligence reports, grand jury transcripts, whistleblower correspondence, and photo evidence contact sheets. 72 files, 874MB, cross-referenced against our full index of 329,474 searchable documents.

Here are the six threads. Each one is documented. Each one connects to the others.

Thread 1: The Intelligence Operation

**Document: EFTA01683874** — FBI FD-1023, SECRET//NOFORN, Case File 813B-NY-2928278, dated November 27, 2017.

An FBI confidential human source told two special agents in New York:

- Epstein was **President Vladimir Putin's wealth manager**. He provided the same service for Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe.

- Epstein had a personal hacker — an Italian citizen born in Calabria who was the first person to hack BlackBerries and iOS.

- This hacker **established Saudi Arabia's cyber surveillance program**.

- The hacker sold zero-day exploits to **Hezbollah**, **UK GCHQ**, a Central African government, and **the United States**.

- The hacker's company was **acquired by CrowdStrike in fall 2017**. He became a Vice President there.

- Three billionaires provided the hacker's seed money: Jeffrey Epstein and two others.

- "In the spring of 2015, President Trump had just been to Epstein's property for lunch." This is post-conviction.

This isn't just a predator ring. The FBI's own classified reporting describes an **intelligence broker** who simultaneously managed autocrats' wealth, funded offensive cyber operations, and ran a blackmail architecture.

Thread 2: The Money Pipeline

**Documents: EFTA00010732, EFTA00010733** — Whistleblower Christopher Dilorio's correspondence to the SEC.

Dilorio documented a financial chain: **Apollo/Leon Black → Schwarzman → Trump/Kushner → Epstein → Putin**.

- Apollo's Moscow/Kremlin development with Ladenburg Thalman

- Alpha Capital Anstalt (Vaduz, Liechtenstein) — a laundering shell the SEC kept operational despite Dilorio's complaints

- $50.5M from Leon Black's BV70 LLC to Epstein's Plan D LLC and Gratitude America

- Email subject line: "Fw: Apollo/Epstein/Kushner connection"

- Dilorio received 11-12 threatening phone calls after filing SEC complaints

The SEC charged the penny stock fraud. They left the pipeline running.

Thread 3: The Banks

**Documents: EFTA00022172, EFTA00022173** — Email chain to Geoffrey Berman (then US Attorney, SDNY), subject: "Russian money laundering + Epstein paedophile ring."

Deutsche Bank, Barclays, and Danske Bank are all implicated. The email chain from December 9, 2019 — four months after Epstein's death — shows people urgently scheduling meetings. *"Can we talk Epstein tomorrow?" "Sure. We just met with the team." "Let's do 12:30."* All names redacted.

Thread 4: The Blackmail Architecture

**Document: EFTA00020149** — FBI affidavit describing the 2019 raid on Epstein's Manhattan residence.

Inside a safe on the third floor: binders containing **dozens of compact discs**, most hand-labeled. In a shoebox in a dresser drawer: CDs labeled "Thai Massage," "Blonde Girl Photo Shoot," and — the one that ties this thread to Thread 1 — **"Misc. Girls Nude/Dinner--Scientists."**

Loose polaroid photographs of young nude females who law enforcement officers determined "appear to be teenagers."

Now look at the DOJ's own release of the photo evidence contact sheets:

- **Musha Cay** (David Copperfield's island): All nine photos **fully blacked out** (EFTA00004583-84)

- CDs **deliberately not scanned** for digital release — orange placeholder: "ITEM WAS NOT SCANNED / Description: CD" (EFTA00004585)

- Physical disc labels **blacked out** (EFTA00004586)

- 100+ nude photo series, **heavily to fully redacted** (EFTA00004592-4603)

The disc labeled "Dinner--Scientists" connects to documented evidence of Sergey Brin and Larry Page at Epstein dinners (EFTA00013635), Jeff Bezos with his mother at an Epstein dinner (EFTA00018444), and a Gates STD blackmail memo from July 2013.

The CDs aren't just evidence of crimes. They're evidence of **who was compromised**. That's why they weren't scanned.

Thread 5: The Protection Mechanism

**Documents: EFTA00011475, EFTA00013359** — DOJ Office of Professional Responsibility investigation, November 2020.

The DOJ investigated its own handling of the Epstein case. Here's what their own report says:

- An AUSA had a **draft 60-count federal indictment** ready in May 2007.

- U.S. Attorney Alexander Acosta offered a deal at a July 31, 2007 meeting — before the investigation was complete.

- The Non-Prosecution Agreement protected Epstein, four named co-conspirators, and **"any potential co-conspirators."** That last phrase is the tell. It's not a plea deal. It's a firewall.

- **Victims were never informed or consulted** — violating the Crime Victims' Rights Act.

- Letters sent to victims after the NPA was signed described the case as "under investigation" — actively misleading them.

- Epstein served less than 13 months, with work release.

- In 2017, Trump nominated Acosta as Secretary of Labor. At his confirmation hearing, he was questioned "only briefly" about Epstein.

- OPR conclusion: **"poor judgment"** — not professional misconduct. No referral. No discipline.

Eighteen documents were removed from Dataset 1. Four from Dataset 3. Two are missing entirely. Not redacted — **removed**.

Thread 6: The Guards Who Didn't Watch

**Documents: EFTA00009781, EFTA02731790, EFTA02731812, EFTA02731852** — newly retrieved from DOJ this morning.

These are the MCC death investigation documents — the grand jury proceedings against correctional officers Tova Noel and Michael Thomas, the two guards assigned to Epstein's Special Housing Unit the night he died.

The FBI's Violent Crimes Task Force investigated. What they found:

- Both officers **agreed not to perform the required inmate counts** on August 9-10, 2019.

- Video confirmed they sat at the desk on their computers instead.

- Both officers **signed false count slips** — certifying they had verified Epstein was alive when they hadn't checked.

- The MCC had **no video surveillance before July 23** — giving investigators only 18 days of footage.

The grand jury returned a six-count indictment. Then:

- Tova Noel received a **Deferred Prosecution Agreement** — six months supervision, 100 hours community service. She walked.

- Michael Thomas received the same deal.

Neither guard went to prison for falsifying the records that were supposed to confirm whether the most high-profile prisoner in federal custody was alive.

Who Are They Protecting?

The documents don't point to one person. They point to the system itself:

**Intelligence relationships.** Epstein's hacker sold zero-days to GCHQ and the US government. Full exposure means admitting the Five Eyes purchased offensive cyber tools from a vendor funded by a sex trafficker who managed Putin's money.

**The financial pipeline.** Apollo → Epstein → Putin is documented. Deutsche Bank, Barclays, and Danske Bank are implicated. These aren't fringe institutions.

**The blackmail leverage.** "Misc. Girls Nude/Dinner--Scientists" — the CDs identify who was compromised. That's why they weren't scanned.

**The political protection circuit.** Acosta kills a 60-count indictment. Gets a Cabinet appointment. OPR finds "poor judgment." The circuit closes.

**The NPA's language is the tell.** Not "these four co-conspirators." *"Any potential co-conspirators."* That's not protecting one person. That's protecting everyone.

Pull one thread, they all unravel. That's why they pulled the documents instead.
