# The 23andMe Pipeline: From Epstein's Dinners to Russian Gangster Money
The Bankruptcy That Wasn't Random
March 2025. 23andMe files for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.
15 million customers' DNA data goes up for sale.
Regeneron Pharmaceuticals bids $256 million. States sue to block it. The sale is reopened.
Anne Wojcicki - 23andMe's founder - buys it back for $305 million through a nonprofit called TTAM Research Institute.
The DNA data stays with her.
Most coverage treated this as a founder saving her company.

March 2014. After her separation from Sergey Brin. Before the divorce was finalized.
The 23andMe founder was in the same room as a convicted sex offender who was collecting DNA through her company's platform.
"Russian Gangster Money"
The same dinner included Yuri Milner.

What This Means
The founder of 23andMe attended dinners with:
- A convicted sex offender collecting DNA through her platform

That company then:

- Had its data nearly sold to pharma
