# The Director's Cut: Brett Ratner and the Snow White Email
On evidence page 6983, our facial recognition system identified two faces. Face 2 was Brett Ratner at 90% confidence with a recognition score of 11.024 — one of the highest scores in the entire corpus. Face 1 was Ghislaine Maxwell at 72% confidence. The same page. The same photograph or photo sheet. A Hollywood director and Epstein's primary co-conspirator, now serving a 20-year federal sentence, identified together in the evidence materials.
The algorithm assigned Ratner a confidence score that places him in the top tier of identifications across all 42,000 photographs. Higher than Prince Andrew. Higher than Jean-Luc Brunel. The facial match is unambiguous at 90%. And when we queried the document index, 391 hits came back — a paper trail of emails, guest lists, dinner coordination, and one document so disturbing it deserves its own section.
The Snow White Email
**EFTA02530600** is an email from Jeffrey Epstein dated June 20, 2010, that reads: "brett ratner, is going to film a big movie, Snow White, i would love to make photos of you in a sn..."
The email is truncated in our index, cutting off mid-word. But the fragment is sufficient. Epstein, a convicted sex offender who had completed his sentence in 2009 and was registered as a sex offender in multiple states, wrote to someone — the recipient is not identified in this document — expressing that he would "love to make photos of you" in connection with Ratner's Snow White film. The truncated ending appears to be "in a Snow White costume" or similar.
This email was sent fourteen months after Epstein's release from the Palm Beach County Stockade. He was a registered sex offender. He was writing about photographing someone in a costume tied to a Ratner production. "Brett ratner is going to film a big movie" is the premise. "I would love to make photos of you" is the ask. The document does not tell us who received this email or whether the photographs were taken. It tells us that Epstein was using Ratner's Hollywood productions as a vehicle for arranging photo sessions with unnamed individuals, and that investigators considered it material enough to preserve.
The Groff Coordination: December 2010
Sarah Kellen Groff — identified in court documents as one of Epstein's key associates — managed his logistics. Three documents from December 16-17, 2010 show her coordinating Brett Ratner's access to Epstein:
**EFTA01832187**: "The number we have for Brett's assistant is not a good number....I called Brett's..." — Groff troubleshooting contact information to reach Ratner.
**EFTA01832434**: "RE: Brett Ratner — Will do" — Groff confirming she would handle something related to Ratner.
**EFTA01830219**: From December 17: "I will speak with Zagat's office. Yes, I emailed Brett again letting him know you wi..." — Groff coordinating between Ratner, Epstein, and the Zagat restaurant guide office. The Zagat reference suggests a dinner reservation or event at a Zagat-rated establishment.
These three emails in two days paint a picture of active coordination. Groff was not casually mentioning Ratner's name. She was managing the logistics of his interaction with Epstein — tracking down his assistant's number, confirming tasks, sending follow-up emails. This is the operational infrastructure of a relationship, not the residue of a casual acquaintance.
The Scalinatella Dinner: "Woody Specifica..."
**EFTA02321404**, also dated December 16, 2010, reads: "7:30 dinner — Got it... The dinner tonight is to be ordered from Scalinatella. Woody specifica..."
Scalinatella is an upscale Italian restaurant on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. "Woody" is Woody Allen, who appears repeatedly in the Epstein document corpus. The dinner coordination occurs on the same day as the Brett Ratner logistics — Groff troubleshooting Ratner's phone number in the morning, coordinating a dinner that evening where Allen specified the restaurant. The temporal overlap strongly suggests Ratner was attending this dinner.
A dinner party is not a crime. But the guest list matters. December 2010 means Epstein had been a registered sex offender for over a year. The people willing to dine at his table after his conviction are a self-selecting group — individuals for whom the social and professional benefits of the Epstein connection outweighed the reputational risk of associating with a convicted sex offender.
The Celebrity Guest Lists
**EFTA02431274** is a guest or contact list that reads like a Hollywood casting sheet: "Jane Fonda, Oliver Stone, Quentin Tarantino, Diane Kruger, Chloe Sevigny, Chace Crawford, Teri Hatcher, Jessica Szohr, Glee's Dianna Agron, Matthew Morrison, Claire Danes..."
The list reads like a Hollywood premiere invite. Ratner, as a major director, was the connective tissue between this entertainment industry guest list and Epstein's social operation. This is the social engineering Epstein perfected: using genuine access to one world to build credibility in another.
The Peggy Siegal Connection
**EFTA02542362** is an email from Peggy Siegal to Epstein dated July 26, 2011: "I came off 'Lady Joy' in St. Tropez on Sunday. Stayed at Jean Pigozzi's Monday night with director B..."

Peggy Siegal was one of New York's most prominent publicists and party planners. "Director B" in the context of an email to Epstein about a Mediterranean yacht trip almost certainly refers to Brett Ratner. Jean Pigozzi is an Italian-French businessman and photographer known for hosting entertainment figures at his properties. The geography — St. Tropez, a yacht called "Lady Joy," Pigozzi's home — maps the Mediterranean social circuit where Epstein, Maxwell, and their associates operated.
Siegal later apologized publicly for her role in helping rehabilitate Epstein's social standing after his conviction. This email, from July 2011, shows her actively bridging the entertainment world and Epstein's circle, with Ratner as a node in that network.
The 2017 Reckoning
In November 2017, the Los Angeles Times published accounts from six women accusing Brett Ratner of sexual misconduct, including actress Olivia Munn and director Ellen Page (now Elliot Page). Warner Bros. severed its $450 million production deal with Ratner's company, RatPac Entertainment. Ratner denied the allegations but stepped away from public-facing roles in Hollywood.
The Epstein documents do not address these allegations. They predate them. But they establish that Ratner was part of a social network organized by a convicted sex offender, that he appeared in evidence photographs alongside Epstein's co-conspirator, and that Epstein used Ratner's film productions as context for arranging photo sessions with unnamed individuals. The documents exist on one timeline. The allegations exist on another. Both timelines converge on the same person.
What 391 Documents Show
Brett Ratner has not been charged with any crime in connection with Jeffrey Epstein. He has not been named as a defendant or co-conspirator in any Epstein-related legal proceeding. The documents in our index do not accuse him of participating in Epstein's criminal conduct.
What they show is a relationship maintained through Epstein's post-conviction period: dinner coordination in December 2010, the Snow White email in June 2010, Peggy Siegal connecting them through the Mediterranean social circuit in 2011. They show Groff managing the logistics of the relationship at an operational level. They show a face identified at 90% confidence on the same evidence page as Ghislaine Maxwell.
And they show one email where a convicted sex offender invoked Ratner's name and his film to arrange a photo session. That email was preserved by the DOJ because someone decided it was evidence. We indexed it because we index everything.
