# The Photo the FBI Found and Buried: Trump and Ghislaine Maxwell on Steve Bannon's Phone

The Bannon-Epstein connection is making headlines. Hundreds of texts. Hermes Apple Watches. A planned documentary to rehabilitate Epstein's image.

But buried in the DOJ's Epstein files is something the media isn't reporting: the FBI found a photo of Donald Trump with Ghislaine Maxwell on Steve Bannon's phone — and prosecutors said "no need to do anything."

What the Media Is Reporting

The headlines are covering the obvious stuff:

- Bannon and Epstein exchanged hundreds of friendly texts

- Epstein gave Steve and Sean Bannon $1,499 Hermes Apple Watches (November-December 2018)

- Epstein texted Bannon: "Now you can understand why trump wakes up in the middle of the night sweating when he hears you and I are friends"

- Bannon filmed hours of documentary footage with Epstein

This is all true. It's all in the files. But it's not the whole story.

What the Media Isn't Reporting

Three documents in Dataset 8 tell a different story.

Document 1: The Unreleased Texts

**EFTA00027289** — Email dated April 12, 2021

An Assistant United States Attorney emails colleagues about Steve Bannon's iPhone 7, which the FBI had forensically extracted using Cellebrite:

> "Wanted to let you know that there are a number of text messages between Steve Bannon and Jeffrey Epstein on Bannon's iPhone 7. They aren't responsive to our warrant."

Translation: The FBI found Bannon-Epstein texts beyond what's being reported — and decided not to pursue them because they fell outside the scope of what they were looking for.

Document 2: The Trump-Maxwell Photo

**EFTA00030998** — Email dated June 11, 2021

An FBI analyst working on the "responsiveness review for WBTW" (We Build The Wall — the Bannon fraud case) was going through Bannon's iPhone 7 on Cellebrite. They found something and flagged it:

> "I hope you're well! I'm helping out with the responsiveness review for WBTW and I've been looking through Steve Bannon's iPhone 7 on Cellebrite. As I was going through the images from that phone, I found an image of Trump and Ghislaine Maxwell on Bannon's phone (see screenshot from Cellebrite, attached). I discussed with Sunny and we wanted to flag this for you, in case it was of any importance to you, since you are on both cases."

The attachment was named: GM_Screenshot_2021-06-11_122815.jpg

The analyst flagged this because the prosecutor was working on "both cases" — the Maxwell prosecution AND the Bannon prosecution.

Document 3: The Burial

**EFTA00001436** — Email dated June 14, 2021

Three days later, the senior prosecutor responds:

> "Thanks very much for flagging — no need to do anything with this one, but thanks for letting me know, and do let me know if anything else pops up."

No need to do anything.

The FBI forensically extracted a photo of the sitting President of the United States with a woman about to stand trial for sex trafficking — from the phone of one of his top advisors — and the response was "no need to do anything."

Why This Matters

The FBI had Bannon's phone. They were extracting data for the fraud case. They found evidence connecting Trump to Maxwell — a photo that Bannon apparently kept on his device.

This wasn't just any phone. This was the phone of Trump's former Chief Strategist. The man who ran his 2016 campaign. The man Epstein joked about making Trump "wake up in the middle of the night sweating."

And when an FBI analyst said "hey, I found a photo of Trump with the sex trafficking defendant on this guy's phone," the prosecutor's response was to bury it.
