# The Prada Skirt
January 5, 2017. Kathy Ruemmler — former White House Counsel to President Barack Obama — texting Jeffrey Epstein:
*"Wearing my Paris-Prada-Jeffrey skirt to the White House tomorrow night. Perfect occasion for it!"*
A convicted sex offender bought her a Prada skirt in Paris. She wore it to the White House. And told him it was the perfect occasion.
4,985 estimated documents in the Epstein files. More than Prince Andrew. More than George Mitchell. And nobody was talking about her.
Who Is Kathy Ruemmler
Kathryn Ruemmler served as White House Counsel to President Obama from 2011 to 2014. The president's top lawyer. She oversaw judicial nominations, executive orders, and national security legal opinions. She had the highest security clearances in the United States government.
After the White House, she became partner at Latham & Watkins — one of the largest law firms in the world. Bloomberg reported she was Obama's choice to succeed Eric Holder as Attorney General. She was a finalist for Facebook's Chief Legal Officer position.
Her relationship with Jeffrey Epstein spans from at least 2014 through May 2019 — two months before his arrest. It wasn't professional. It was deeply personal.
The Ghislaine Maxwell Defense
This is where "personal" becomes something else entirely.
**EFTA02355170** — October 22, 2015. Ruemmler to Epstein: *"I connected Laura and Darren via email and I have an email into Boies."*
Laura = Laura Menninger, Ghislaine Maxwell's defense attorney. Darren = Darren Indyke, Epstein's personal lawyer. Boies = David Boies.
Obama's former White House Counsel coordinated the legal defense team for a woman later convicted of sex trafficking.
She managed ABC News press strategy: *"We need to decide whether to give a statement on your behalf. At least we now have until Friday. Has ABC contacted Ghislaine?"*
Epstein deferred to her: *"Her lawyer provided a long winded letter to counsel. She will do as you suggest."*
A $50k retainer was discussed. Martin Weinberg, a Boston attorney, sent privileged communications addressed to both Epstein and Ruemmler. The president's former top lawyer and a convicted sex offender, co-recipients on privileged legal documents about a sex trafficking case.
The Rothschild Triangle
"Ariane" appears throughout the Ruemmler-Epstein correspondence. Confirmed identity: Baroness Ariane de Rothschild, CEO of the Edmond de Rothschild Group.
Epstein brokered the relationship between Latham & Watkins and the Rothschild bank. When he asked for the engagement letter, Ruemmler replied: *"Do you mean the engagement letter between Latham and the bank?"*
Epstein: *"Please send me the letter memorializing the long standing professional arrangement with Ariane and the group."*
A convicted sex offender had access to the engagement letter between one of the world's largest law firms and one of Europe's oldest banking dynasties.
He coached the relationship. January 9, 2016: *"Spoke to Ariane for two hours, followed your script. Good work."* Ruemmler wrote his talking points for conversations with a Rothschild banking CEO.
He warned Ruemmler about her: *"Reminder, Ariane is all biz. Careful as she prefers to drink and chat as her interrogation technique. Shares confidences easily."*
They socialized together. July 19, 2015 schedule: *"2:00pm Kathy Ruemmler & Ariane de Rothschild... 8:00pm DINNER w/ Larry Summers, his wife, Lisa New, and Ariane."*
They traveled together. *"Made it to Paris. Ariane and I are walking/shopping. What are you up to?"* Christmas Day 2015: *"We will go to Majorca on 1/2. You could come over? This is where Ariane thinks you should buy a house."*
Ruemmler stayed at Rothschild's Paris residence: *"Ariane sent one for me. Was planning to stay at The Peninsula, but she prefers that I stay at the house."*
The Facebook Application
July 2, 2018. Ruemmler sent her follow-up letter for the Facebook Chief Legal Officer position — addressed to "Sheryl" Sandberg, referencing conversations with "Mark" Zuckerberg — through Jeffrey Epstein's email.
*"I wanted to follow-up on my visit to FB last week. I really enjoyed getting to talk to everybody, and in particular to talk to Mark and you about your vision for the role."*
Epstein coached her. He suggested she "look at the recent internet and privacy opinions and pose some open questions." He told her "Mark wants to bring the internet to the rest of the world... and healthcare... his wife is nice but boring."
When she sent an article about Facebook federal investigations, Epstein responded: *"Good girl."*
January 2016: *"Facebook was so cool. I spent time with the Oculus guys — amazing!!"*
The president's former top lawyer applied for the top legal job at the world's largest social network. The application went through a convicted sex offender's inbox. He coached the pitch. He tracked the interviews. And she reported back like a protege.
The Attorney General That Wasn't
Bloomberg reported that Obama was favoring Ruemmler to succeed Eric Holder as Attorney General. Epstein forwarded the news to Jes Staley, then CEO of JPMorgan's private bank.
*"Administration officials were firm that President Obama was only beginning to think about a new attorney general, but many in Washington are already focusing on Kathryn Ruemmler."*
She ultimately declined. The AP reported: *"Former Obama lawyer nixes attorney general offer."*
The Department of Justice she would have led is the same Department of Justice that prosecuted Jeffrey Epstein.
The Birthday Party
January 15, 2018. Epstein to Steve Bannon:
*"It's my 65th birthday Saturday (20th). Considering a 'deplorables' lunch. James Watson (Crick and Watson). Woody Allen. Kathy Ruemmler (former White House Counsel). Even MW who has agreed to join."*
MW. Ghislaine Maxwell.
The guest list for a convicted sex offender's birthday party: A Nobel laureate. A filmmaker with his own abuse allegations. Obama's former White House Counsel. A woman later convicted of sex trafficking. And the invitation went to Trump's former chief strategist, who declined for a Tea Party keynote.
Men Behaving Badly
March 15, 2018. Discussing potential impeachment counsel work. Ruemmler to Epstein:
*"Given that my current specialty is men behaving badly, that would be fitting..."*
Written to Jeffrey Epstein. About men behaving badly.
May 8, 2018: *"Omg. Schneiderman."* — texting Epstein the day NY Attorney General Eric Schneiderman resigned over abuse allegations. Texting a convicted sex offender about another man's abuse.
May 2019
Two months before Epstein's arrest. Lesley Groff instructed Epstein's Paris driver:
*"Valdson to Take Care of Kathy while in Paris now until Saturday May 18! Jeffrey requests you connect with her and drive her as needed... feed her... care for her during her stay!"*
Feed her. Care for her. A convicted sex offender's staff assigned to attend to Obama's former White House Counsel in Paris. May 2019. The last documented contact before the world ended.
