# We Searched Every Trump Cabinet Member in the Epstein Files. Only 2 Passed the Smell Test.
The Lutnick story broke this week. The Musk emails are everywhere. But nobody's asking the right question: **Who else?**
We searched all 17 current cabinet members in our index of 329,442 DOJ Epstein documents. Here's what we found—and more importantly, how we found it.
The Results
| Name | Role | Hits | Verdict |
|------|------|------|---------|
| Howard Lutnick | Commerce | 434 | **REAL** - Direct emails, $50K donation, island visit |
| Elon Musk | DOGE | 278 | **REAL** - Direct correspondence 2012-14, St Barth's planning |
| Pete Hegseth | Defense | 420 | **FALSE** - Actually "Pete Rawson" (Epstein's pilot) |
| Pam Bondi | AG | 516 | **FALSE** - FBI News Briefings only |
| Scott Bessent | Treasury | 1000 | **FALSE** - "Scott Skyrm", "Scott Denett" |
| Kash Patel | FBI | 20 | **FALSE** - Congressional letters TO him |
| RFK Kennedy | HHS | 9 | **FALSE** - FBI declassification projects |
| Tulsi Gabbard | DNI | 32 | **FALSE** - News about her nomination |
| Vivek Ramaswamy | — | 28 | **FALSE** - Random "Vivek" in medical docs |
**2 of 17.** Not "everyone was connected." Not "the files prove nothing." Two verified connections, fifteen false positives.
The Pete Hegseth Problem
Search "Pete Hegseth" in the Epstein files. You'll get 420 hits. Headlines write themselves, right?
Wrong.
Read the actual documents. Every hit is **Pete Rawson**—one of Epstein's pilots. He flew the Gulfstream alongside Larry Visoski and Dave Rodgers. The flight crew appears in hundreds of scheduling emails.
"Pete" is a common name. The files contain a lot of flight records. The Secretary of Defense isn't in these documents. Epstein's pilot is.
The Kash Patel Paradox
This one's actually funny.
Search "Kash Patel" and you get 20 hits. Open them. They're all from 2025—**Congressional letters addressed TO Kash Patel** demanding he release Epstein files now that he's FBI Director.
The man isn't in the files. The letters asking him to release the files are in the files.
This is what happens when you index government correspondence alongside historical documents. Context matters.
The Clarence Thomas Trap
We searched SCOTUS too. "Clarence Thomas" returns 46 hits.
Open the documents. It's **Clarence Browne**—a British architect who designed one of Epstein's properties. Different Clarence. Different century of relevance.
"Ginni Thomas" returns 510 hits. Open them: **Gianni Serazzi**, an Italian businessman. The search engine doesn't know the difference between Ginni and Gianni.
This is why hit counts mean nothing without verification.
The Methodology
Here's how to actually verify a name in the Epstein files:
**Step 1: Run the search**
**Step 2: Check hit count**
- Under 50: Might be real, worth reading
- 50-500: Probably multiple people with similar names
- 1000+: Almost certainly false positives from common names
**Step 3: Read the actual documents**
- Look for direct email addresses
- Look for context (are they sending TO Epstein or just mentioned?)
- Check dates (pre or post-conviction matters)
- Verify role matches (pilot Pete vs. Secretary Pete)
**Step 4: Cross-reference**

- Does mainstream media have corroborating evidence?
- Are there financial records, not just mentions?
- Is there a pattern across multiple documents?
What the Real Connections Look Like
**Lutnick (434 hits):**
- Direct email correspondence 2009-2018
- $50K donation through "Gratitude America" foundation (Nov 2017)
- Island visit with family (2012)
- Frick Collection collaboration (2018)
- FBI tip referencing him as neighbor (2020)
**Musk (278 hits):**
- Direct email exchanges 2012-2014
- St Barth's holiday planning discussions
- "What day/night will be the wildest party on your island?"
- Scheduling conflicts prevented actual island visit
These have direct sender/recipient relationships. Financial documentation. Multiple corroborating documents. That's how you know it's real.
Why This Matters
The Epstein files are 329,442 documents. People will search their enemies' names, find hits, and declare victory. Twitter threads will claim cabinet members are compromised based on hit counts.
Some will be right. Most will be wrong.
The methodology matters more than the headlines. A pilot named Pete isn't the Secretary of Defense. Letters to the FBI Director aren't evidence against him. An Italian businessman isn't a Supreme Court spouse.
**2 of 17 cabinet members have verified Epstein connections.** That's the story—not "everyone's connected" and not "the files prove nothing."
The truth is in the documents. You just have to read them.
